Lukashenko to Western experts on Belarus: You are driven by hate, we are moved by creation
MINSK, 17 September (BelTA) – Western experts in Belarusian studies are driven by the gene of hatred while Belarusians are moved by the energy of creation. Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko made the statement in a speech during the youth forum Youth. Belarus. Future on the occasion of People’s Unity Day, BelTA has learned.
Aleksandr Lukashenko pointed out that for 18 years – from 1921 through 1939 – ethnocide was practiced in the territory of Western Belarus. The key task was to break people’s spirit, erase their individuality, and turn them into silent slaves. This is why residents of Belarus’ western regions welcomed the Red Army with flowers as liberators. “I emphasize: for Belarusians it was not a military campaign. It took place as a peaceful meeting of two parts of one nation. This fact has been recognized by some Western states as well. In particular, by France and Britain,” the president stated.
“People in the West write about our history, about Belarusian identity, about ‘the innate feeling of respect for landlords’. The essence of their ‘science’ is simple: to force Belarusians live as slaves and work for the lords once again. They want to enslave [the Belarusian nation]. Approximately the way our so-called government and offices in exile operate. Over the past 100 years, particularly in the past 30 years a lot of these offices in exile staffed by fugitives emerged,” Aleksandr Lukashenko pointed out. “Princes, barons and other rulers on various continents, who still fail to understand that our land has only one master: the people of Belarus. I promise you that it will continue to be that way.”
He said he was confident that the pressure Belarus faces from the West is caused by the fact that Belarusians choose to preserve their legacy in the spiritual, cultural, and economic dimensions. This is why the president addressed Western experts in Belarusian studies. “Particularly those, who still dream of reviving the imperial past of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth and who pretend that nothing happens in Belarus on this festive day,” Aleksandr Lukashenko stated. “Some people in Poland walk in their bedrooms at night and see the spirit of Pilsudski [Poland President Karol Nawrocki has previously stated that he is in communication with the spirit of the deceased Marshal Jozef Pilsudski]. The leader of Poland if someone missed that. There will be no Pilsudskis in Belarus. Time to forget about it.”
“I understand that these people [Western experts in Belarusian studies] are driven by phantom pain, by the gene of hatred while we are moved by the energy of creation,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said. “Our land has been reborn from the ashes more than once. We have not been broken either by bloody campaigns against eastern Slavs or by World War One and the Great Patriotic War [of 1941-1945]”.
The president assured that Belarusians do not want what does not belong to them, including lands, riches, and ideas. “We have a beautiful country, a hardworking people, rich traditions in culture and politics. We don’t force our life philosophy upon anyone but an imported philosophy won’t take root here,” he stressed.
