Lukashenko stresses importance of peace for Belarus’ development

MINSK, 31 December (BelTA) – Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed the importance of peace for the country’s development during a visit to the production site of Horizont Holding Company on 31 December, BelTA has learned.

During his visit to the enterprise, the head of state met with the team, students of the Horizont children’s center, and their parents. They first and foremost expressed gratitude to the president for his policies and for preserving peace in Belarus.

The president noted that amid the complicated situation in the world and in Belarus’ neighboring countries, people have begun to value peace more and to understand how far-sighted the older generations were, who considered peace the most important priority. "Today, we are also speaking about the need to preserve peace. This is the main thing,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.

There are many examples in the world where industrial infrastructure is destroyed due to armed conflicts. One of them is the strike by a Russian Oreshnik missile system at the Yuzhmash plant in Ukraine. “It was a huge enterprise, one of the most unique in the Soviet Union, with 5-7 floors underground, as everyone was preparing for nuclear war back then. And so, the Oreshnik system struck Yuzhmash once, and such a huge and unique enterprise was gone in a minute. I am not even talking about how many people died,” the head of state said.

“If there is peace, we will accomplish everything we need. What we do not have, we will buy. But we need peace for this, it is the foundation. Therefore, we will do everything so that you can work, live peacefully and build the future. We will do our best to make it all happen for you,” Aleksandr Lukashenko emphasized.

The head of state called on everyone to value what Belarus has and to work together to multiply the existing achievements. Especially since there are such positive examples of modern, effective development as Horizont Holding Company, which represent the future.

“Don’t strive to go abroad, it’s not necessary. They are not waiting for us there. And if they are waiting, it’s to wash dishes or something else,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said. “Some ran away and are now asking to come back. It’s easy to run away, but harder to return. Although we are doing everything so that those who lost their senses at the time can return home and work. There were such people at Horizont too. But they finally understood that the main thing is our land. And these assembly lines, robotic complexes should be here with us.”

The president spoke positively about the existing tradition at Horizont company of bringing children to the workshops and introducing them to production. After all, it is such flagship enterprises that represent the future of the country, and it is here that representatives of the younger generation will strive to work. On this occasion, the head of state also mentioned issues of demographic security and the problems faced by many European countries, including Belarus. “The population has started to decrease there, and we have followed this trend,” Aleksandr Lukashenko noted. According to him, the state will provide additional measures to increase the birth rate, so that families have at least three children. “If there are three, at least three children in the family, the country will live and develop,” the Belarusian leader said.

During his visit to Horizont company, the head of state was presented with symbolic and original gifts: a tablet of their own production and a craft made by pupils of the children’s center.
