Lukashenko: Europe should pursue its own policy

MINSK, 26 January (BelTA) - Europe has only one way which is to pursue its own policy, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko told the media in Minsk on 26 January, BelTA has learned.

The European Union is a powerful union, the head of state said. It is home to about 450 million people, which is much more than the population of the United States. The EU has a technological economy and a strong currency.

The president is convinced that the planet will be more stable if it rests on many pillars. “The European Union, the United States, China, India, Russia - these are many pillars that could hold our planet together. The USA should understand, however, that these pillars matter, but they proceed from one thing only: America first,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.

“Europe has only one way which is to pursue its own policy. There is money, there are technologies. They need resources. They are here, on the Belarusian-Russian space. They are available in Russia. Make an agreement with Russia. It is ready to sell natural gas, oil to you at cheaper prices. If you agree with Russia, no America, never mind China, will be able to deal with such an association,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said. “Why isn't this happening? It can be done. I'm telling you this as president. As Belarusians say, ‘they are lacking the stomach’. There is no one to make such a decision. Well, it is their choice. Time will put everything in its place.”
