Lukashenko: Christianity plays a key role in strengthening moral values

MINSK, 6 June (BelTA) - President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has sent his best greetings to the participants of the international conference “Baptism of Rus in the fates of peoples of Belarus, Russia, Ukraine: Choosing a civilized path”, BelTA learned from the presidential press service.

“For more than 1,000 years Christianity shapes ethnic and esthetic ideals common for all Eastern Slavs, serves as a foundation of moral and cultural traditions. Today it plays a crucial role in strengthening moral values, promotion of unity, peacefulness and mutual help,” the message of greetings reads.

The head of state noted that versatile activity of the Eastern Orthodox Church always resonates in the Belarusian society. “Constructive cooperation between the state and the Belarusian Exarchate allows to jointly implement humanitarian projects, restore unique ancient shrines and build new churches,” the President believes.

“I am convinced that the conference which brought together a lot of scientists and clergy will help unite Slavonic nations, realize a huge consolidating power of Christianity, its creative and cultural role,” Alexander Lukashenko stressed.
