Haftar: Libya is keen to establish strategic cooperation with Belarus

MINSK, 18 February (BelTA) - Libya seeks to establish strategic cooperation with Belarus, Field Marshal and Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan National Army Khalifa Belqasim Haftar said at a meeting with Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko in Minsk on 18 February, BelTA has learned.

Greeting the Belarusian head of state, the Libyan military leader thanked him for the opportunity to meet. Khalifa Belqasim Haftar noted that he is very happy to visit Belarus, about which he has heard a lot of good things. In his words, Belarus has been actively developing various sectors, maintaining peace and calm for many years, despite the fact that the situation around the country is tense. Many other states strive to preserve peace and calm as Belarus does, Khalifa Belqasim Haftar stressed.

According to him, the wise leadership of the country has made Belarus a high-tech state, which produces various types of modern equipment, including industrial and agricultural machinery. "Everything is developing at a high level," Khalifa Belqasim Haftar stated.

"We have a strong desire to develop mutually beneficial cooperation with you for the benefit of the two countries and peoples," the Libyan military leader said. "We are very keen to build a strategic partnership with your country, Mr President."
