MINSK, 3 June (BelTA) – The organization of the 4th European Orthodox-Catholic Forum in Minsk is a big achievement for Belarus, Apostolic Nuncio in Belarus Archbishop Claudio Gugerotti told media on the first day of the forum, BelTA has learned.
According to the Apostolic Nuncio, it is important as Belarus is Europe, the Europe of all believers that knows no boundaries: neither ideological, not geographical of geopolitical. Claudio Gugerotti stressed that hosting the forum is a big achievement for Belarus.
In his words, Belarus has been chosen as a venue for such a forum since it is a peaceful country. Catholics and Orthodox believers live in Belarus together, the archbishop added.
On 2 June, the first day of the forum, Catholic and Orthodox bishops from 22 countries met in the All Hallows Church. Cardinal Peter Erdo, President of the Council of the European Bishops’ Conferences, presented Metropolitan of Minsk and Slutsk Pavel, Patriarchal Exarch of All Belarus with a part of the relics of Saint Stephen (Istvan) the King.
