MINSK, 20 June (BelTA) – The project to create a communication satellite that Belarus is now implementing together with Chinese partners will become a serious step for Belarus in the space industry, BelTA learned from Piotr Klimuk, a USSR cosmonaut of Belarusian origin.

“It is a serious satellite. It has 40 transponders. It will allow selling the end product. It is of much significance and it costs much more [in comparison with the satellite Belarus has already launched,]” said the cosmonaut.

He also explained that the project is relevant for the Belarusian geoinformation probing satellite. “The project has already produced results. Photos are taken using this satellite. But making the satellite profitable is what matters. We have to sell everything we have gained,” noted Piotr Klimuk.
