Belarus hailed as decent competitor on global defense market

MINSK, 13 December (BelTA) – Belarus is a decent competitor on the global market of defense technologies, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko noted at the second Congress of Scientists of Belarus on 13 December, BelTA informs.

This applies to radiolocation, missile systems, unmanned aerial vehicles, and automated systems, the president added. “We make cutting-edge defense products that can effectively counter highly intelligent weapons of the 21st century,” he said.

The developments of Belarusian scientists are well-known across the globe, including those in the fields of plasma technology, optics and lasers, new materials with special properties, radioelectronics, informatics, and functional foods.

Belarus actively interacts with many organizations and countries within the framework of international scientific programs and projects, including Russia, China, India, Turkey, France, and other states, the president added.

Virtually two weeks ago, during the visit of Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev to Belarus, the two countries inked several bilateral agreements on long-term cooperation in science, technology, and different sectors of agriculture.

According to Alexander Lukashenko, international rankings prove the efficiency of Belarus’. For instance, Belarus is ranked 45th out of almost 200 countries in the Knowledge Economic Index, jumping 14 places over the last five years.
