Belarus’ deputy foreign minister: WW3 will devastate Europe

MINSK, 18 August (BelTA) – If World War Three happens, there will be nothing left of Europe. Belarusian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Igor Sekreta made the statement in an interview with the German publication NachDenkSeiten, BelTA has learned.

European capital cities are currently engaged in active discussions about strengthening defenses and preparing for a possible direct confrontation with the East. According to Igor Sekreta, the threat of a big war in Europe causes him and many of his colleagues great concern.

“I used to think: these are just words. But today I see a real danger that this will become a bitter reality. A new war will not respect borders. Belarus is right in the heart of Europe. After World War One, Europe was powerful. After World War Two, it managed to survive. After World War Three, nothing will be left. All of Europe will be destroyed by war,” the deputy minister of foreign affairs is convinced.

In his opinion, society is getting the impression that everyone sits in front of a computer screen and plays a game that can simply be turned off. “But in reality, this affects your family, your home. The true strength of a state and its politicians lies in having the wisdom and the ability to prevent war,” Igor Sekreta stated.

At the same time, he believes that talking only about European security today is not enough, since Western Europe is geographically small and has isolated itself with sanctions.

“But if we unite Europe with Eurasia and establish common principles, it will be a giant step toward peace. This is not an abstraction. The Ukrainian embassy is still open here in Minsk, and we invite their diplomats to all events because we understand that after the next change of government in Kiev, we will have to restore relations, and we need to lay the foundation now,” said Igor Sekreta.
