Ambassador: Belarus-China relations stronger than ever

MINSK, 29 July (BelTA) – Under the strategic guidance of Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko and Chinese President Xi Jinping, relations between Belarus and China have withstood the test of global turbulence and entered the best period in their history, China’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Belarus Zhang Wenchuan said at a ceremonial event marking the 105th anniversary of the founding of the Chinese Communist Party and the 99th anniversary of the People’s Liberation Army, BelTA has learned.

"As we mark the 105th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, I would also like to note that China-Belarus relations have travelled an extraordinary path of development over the past 34 years. Under the strategic guidance of President Xi Jinping and Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko, our bilateral relations have withstood the test of global turbulence and entered the best period in their history,” the diplomat said.

The ambassador also noted that Aleksandr Lukashenko had recently paid a successful visit to China. “The leaders of our two countries held an important meeting that outlined new prospects for the development of bilateral relations. Xi Jinping stressed that deepening the all-weather and comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Belarus is in line with the course of history and serves the fundamental interests of the peoples of both countries,” Zhang Wenchuan said.

He shared the opinion that China and Belarus should maintain close strategic contacts, promote the sustained high-level development of bilateral relations and deliver greater benefits to their peoples. “During his meeting with Xi Jinping, Aleksandr Lukashenko reaffirmed Belarus’ readiness to strengthen strategic coordination with China, expand areas of cooperation and ensure the continued development of bilateral relations,” the diplomat said.

He added: “China stands ready to work with all countries, including Belarus, to promote the building of a community with a shared future for mankind, implement the four global initiatives and the Belt and Road Initiative, and advance a brighter future for the world based on security, prosperity and progress.”
