Ambassador: Belarus becomes strategic partner for Brazil

MINSK, 28 July (BelTA) – Belarus has become a strategic partner for Brazil, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Brazil to Belarus Julio Cesar Fontes Laranjeira told journalists, BelTA has learned.

The ambassador noted that diplomatic relations between Belarus and Brazil were established in 1992. During this time, a number of agreements have been signed, including in education, healthcare, and technology. “Belarus has become a strategic partner for Brazil. Belarusian potash covers about 30% of the needs of our domestic market,” the diplomat emphasized.

During his diplomatic mission, Ambassador Julio Cesar Fontes Laranjeira plans to make efforts to develop trade and cultural relations between Minsk and Brasília. “I would like to determine which services and goods from Brazil may be in demand in Belarus. In addition, I would like to diversify our trade, because it is mostly concentrated on potash. Yet Belarus has many goods and services that could be of interest to Brazil. Belarus has a highly developed IT industry, it also produces tractors that could be useful for us… I believe there are many different areas for expanding cooperation,” he noted.
