Alexander Volovich: Rented housing is a resource for workforce mobility

MINSK, 6 May (BelTA) – The construction of rented housing is a resource for the mobility of workforce. The opinion was voiced by Alexander Volovich, Deputy Chairman of the Architecture and Construction Committee of the Minsk Oblast Executive Committee, Chief Architect of Minsk Oblast, BelTA has learned.

“The need to build rented homes was ripe a long time ago. It will allow our people to feel freedom in choosing their workplace, it will be a resource for moving the workforce,” said Alexander Volovich. “In Minsk Oblast the construction of rented homes will begin in large towns and cities – Molodechno, Borisov, Slutsk, Soligorsk. In the future we will move on to Minsk District, Zhodino. The homes will be mainly one or two-bedroom apartments, with minimization of the area prioritized”.

According to the Chief Architect of Minsk Oblast, the formation of the rented housing market will positively influence the settling down rate of young specialists after they have completed their mandatory work time. “At present young specialists cannot be satisfied by a bed in a hall of residence. It is necessary to build rented homes, provide the starting opportunities to create families,” he said. “If enterprises themselves get involved in creating favorable living standards, provide young specialists with decent salaries, then the situation will improve considerably”.

Alexander Volovich also remarked that the construction of rented housing will help the government resolve the problem of illegal apartment renting from private individuals.

This year there are plans to commission 1.4 million square meters of housing in Minsk Oblast, including 0.5 million square meters to be built with state assistance, preferential rate loans in other words.
