WTA rankings: Sabalenka, Azarenka remain intact, Sasnovich two spots down

MINSK, 23 May (BelTA) – Ahead of the Roland Garros start Belarusian best tennis player Aryna Sabalenka remains 7th in the WTA rankings, BelTA has learned.

Aryna Sabalenka currently holds 3,966 points. The Belarusian is set to open the tournament in France against France’s world number 101 Chloe Paquet. Former world number one Victoria Azarenka, currently ranked 15th (2,440 points), will face world number 93 Ana Bogdan of Romania. Aliaksandra Sasnovich (world number 47 with 1,183 points) defeated China’s Wang Xinyu (77), 6-4, 6-1, in the opener.

Belarus’ Ilya Ivashka goes 50th with 1,010 points in the ATP rankings, Egor Gerasimov is 145th with 429 points. In the French Open round one Ilya Ivashka will take on world number 78 Benoit Paire of France.
