MINSK, 7 August (BelTA) – Scientists have discovered a unique zoomorphic amulet at the Osovets-2 settlement in the Beshenkovichi District, BelTA learned from the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (NASB).
An archaeological expedition of the Institute of History of the NASB, led by Head of the Department of Archaeology of Primitive Society Maksim Chernyavsky, is nearing completion. The expedition has been studying the Neolithic–Early Bronze Age settlement of Osovets-2 in the Beshenkovichi District.
During the expedition, researchers discovered numerous artifacts primarily associated with the Northern Belarusian culture, including pottery fragments, bone, antler and flint objects, hunting weapons, fishing equipment, as well as artistic items and ornaments.
Today, the researchers discovered a unique zoomorphic amulet belonging to the Northern Belarusian culture and dating back to the mid-3rd millennium B.C.
