MINSK, 7 September (BelTA) - The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) in Belarus is launching a sports charity project "Move4Good: Recharge with UNICEF", Kristina Dulevich, communication specialist with UNICEF in Belarus, told BelTA.

“This is an inclusive online project, an alternative to traditional races and marathons. Everyone can become a part of it. Walking, running, swimming or warming up… A participant can choose any type of activity to recharge with UNICEF. The online format reduces the risks associated with the epidemiological situation, and also enables children and adults from different parts of Belarus to get together," Kristina Dulevich said.

Within a month, anyone can register at www.move4good.by, choose a sport and enter their results. Every participant will also get access to useful information about sports from experts (psychologists, doctors, coaches): videos, recommendations on the topic of sport and sports education of the child.

The project has two goals: to promote sport and healthy lifestyles, to raise funds to support inclusive education, so that children with disabilities can learn and communicate with peers, develop their potential and acquire the skills necessary for an independent adult life.

To participate, you need register at www.move4good.by and make a charitable contribution. There are various participation packages: Standard, Super+, Partner. You can register individually, or as families, or teams. The charitable contribution is from Br25. All funds raised will be spent to support the inclusion in schools and to purchase necessary equipment for children with disabilities.

The project will end with an “offline celebrity recharge" featuring a team of partners, experts, popular bloggers and Super+ participants.

“The more participants there are, the more help we can provide. In Belarus, there are more than 186,000 children with disabilities or special needs. Many of them feel lonely, and one in ten does not attend an educational institution. The reasons are both physical barriers (only one school out of ten provides a barrier-free environment) and society's attitude towards children with disabilities. The pandemic has further exacerbated the social isolation of vulnerable groups of children, but we believe that we, adults, can solve any problems together. Move4Good is a project about sport, energy, family, good deeds and assistance," said Tanja Radocaj, UNICEF Representative in Belarus.

Plans are in place to make the "recharge" an annual event, involve more and more participants and turn it into a nationwide project.
