MINSK, 20 May (BelTA) – The National Union of Tourist Organizations of Belarus told BelTA what tourists find most appealing when traveling around the country.

The survey was conducted in a social media group with more than 80,000 members.

On 14-18 May, subscribers were invited to answer a question about the most attractive factors of the country’s tourism potential. The nature and cleanliness of Belarusian cities topped the list. Minsk is viewed as a green city with clean streets by 14.3% of respondents. Forests, lakes, rivers, flora and fauna received 12.6%, while the atmosphere and cozy courtyards of other Belarusian cities were highlighted by 12.2% of users.

Castles, Catholic churches, Orthodox churches, palaces, and manor estates were named the major points of attraction by 10.9% of tourists. Scenic and well-maintained roads and landscapes received 7.4%. Gastronomy was prioritized by 7% of respondents, safety by 7%, and visa-free entry for up to 30 days by 6%. Comfortable and affordable accommodation was noted by 3.9%, as was shopping (shopping malls, souvenirs, Belarusian goods).

According to the survey organizers, such segments as countryside recreation and industrial tourism ended up undeservedly at the bottom of the ranking, which simply indicates that these areas are not yet sufficiently promoted, the National Union of Tourist Organizations added.
