MINSK, 9 July (BelTA) – Belarusian tennis player Iryna Shymanovich (world No. 215) made a winning start at the 2026 Hall of Fame Open in Newport, USA, which features a prize pool of $225,000, BelTA has learned.
The Belarusian advanced through the first round by beating Japan’s Hayu Kinoshita (No. 227) 6-3, 6-2 in 90 minutes. For a spot in the quarterfinals, she will face Mary Stoiana of the USA (No. 130) in the last 16. In their doubles opener, Iryna Shymanovich and American Katie Volynets will square off against the all-American duo of Sydney Jara and Olivia Lincer.
In the men’s doubles quarterfinals of the $204,000 ATP Challenger 125 event in Braunschweig, Germany, Belarus’ Ivan Liutarevich and Mexico’s Miguel Angel Reyes-Varela will face the French duo of Arthur Reymond and Luka Sanchez.
In the opening round of the ITF tournament in Hillcrest, South Africa, Belarus’ Alexander Zgirovsky defeated Israel’s Orel Kimhi 6-3, 6-3, and will face South Africa’s Luc Koenig in the second round.
The tournaments in Germany, the USA, and South Africa will conclude on 12 July.
