MINSK, 14 May (BelTA) – Belarus’ world number 120 Aliaksandra Sasnovich has won her second match at the WTA 125K Paris event, BelTA has learned.
In the round of 16, the Belarusian defeated Russia’s world number 97 Anna Blinkova in straight sets, 7-5, 6-4. The match lasted for an hour and 57 minutes. In the opener, Aliaksandra Sasnovich secured a solid win over Australia’s world number 62 Talia Gibson, 6-4, 6-0. In the quarterfinals, she will face World No.125 Alina Charaeva of Russia, who defeated Germany’s Tamara Korpatsch (World No.87) in a three-set match in the round of 16, 6-4, 6-7, 6-3.
Last year, Aliaksandra Sasnovich reached the semifinals of the Paris tournament, where she lost to France’s Chloé Paquet. Paquet then lost to British Katie Boulter in the final. The current tournament in the French capital will conclude on 17 May.
