MINSK, 25 May (BelTA) – Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka continues to lead the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) rankings before the start of the French Open, the second Grand Slam tournament of the season, BelTA has learned.
Aryna Sabalenka currently has 9,960 points, leading Elena Rybakina by 1,647 points. In the first round of Roland Garros, the Belarusian will face Spanish tennis player Jéssica Bouzas Maneiro, who rounds out the top 50 of the WTA rankings. Belarusian Aliaksandra Sasnovich, who failed to qualify for the main draw of the French Open, sits in 124th place. Iryna Shymanovich is ranked 189th, and Aliona Falei is in 235th position.

At the top of the men’s rankings is Italy’s Jannik Sinner. Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz is in second, Germany’s Alexander Zverev is third, Serbia’s Novak Djokovic is fourth, and American Ben Shelton rounds out the top five. The highest-ranked Belarusian tennis player, Ilya Ivashka, is in 518th place.
