MINSK, 16 December (BelTA) – The Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) has announced Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus as the world’s best player for the second straight season, based on the results of its traditional annual vote, BelTA has learned.
Sabalenka received nearly 80% of the votes. This season, the 27-year-old Belarusian tennis player reached the finals of nine tournaments, winning four of them. Her accomplishments include a Grand Slam title at the US Open, as well as victories at the tournaments in Brisbane, Miami, and Madrid. In 2025, Aryna Sabalenka won 63 out of 75 matches played and set a new record for prize money earned in a single season by banking $15,008,519. She spent the entire year as the world number one and now ranks 12th on the all-time list for weeks in the No.1 position.
The Doubles Team of the Year is the Czech-U.S. tandem of Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend. The Newcomer of the Year award went to 19-year-old Canadian tennis player Victoria Mboko.
