Sabalenka remains 2nd in WTA rankings

MINSK, 13 August (BelTA) - Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus remained second in the renewed WTA rankings following the US Open in New York, BelTA has learned.

The Belarusian number one reached the US Open semifinal and currently goes with 7,720 points. US Open winner Emma Raducanu of the UK leaped from 150th to 23rd spot in the WTA. Belarus’ Victoria Azarenka is 32nd with 1,990 points, Aliaksandra Sasnovich is 111th with 740 points, and Olga Govortsova goes 134th with 564 points.

WTA Top Ten:

1. Ashleigh Barty (Australia) – 10,075 points
2. Aryna Sabalenka (Belarus) – 7,720
3. Karolina Pliskova (Czech Republic) – 5,315 
4. Elina Svitolina (Ukraine) – 4,860
5. Naomi Osaka (Japan) – 4,796
6. Sofia Kenin (United States) – 4,692 
7. Barbora Krejcikova (Czech Republic) – 4,668
8. Iga Swiatek (Poland) – 4,571
9. Garbine Muguruza (Spain) – 4,380

The ATP rankings are still topped by Serbia’s Novak Djokovic who lost to Russia’s Daniil Medvedev in the US Open final on 12 September.

Belarus’ Ilya Ivashka goes 53rd with 1,305 points, Egor Gerasimov is 90th with 850 points.
