Sabalenka progresses to third round in Dubai

MINSK, 19 February (BelTA) – World number one Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus advanced to the third round of the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships with a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Russia’s world number 50 Veronika Kudermetova, BelTA has learned.

The match lasted for one hour and 50 minutes. World number 38 Clara Tauson of Denmark will be Sabalenka's Round of 16 opponent.

Belarus’ world number 34 Victoria Azarenka defeated Ukraine’s world number 51 Anhelina Kalinina, 2-6, 7-6 (7-4), 6-4, and lost to world number two Iga Swiatek of Poland, 0-6, 2-6, in the second round.

The previous edition in Dubai was won by Italy’s Jasmine Paolini. She has already reached the third round of the ongoing event which is to finish on 22 February.
