MINSK, 3 July (BelTA) – Belarus’ Aryna Sabalenka advanced to the fourth round of the Wimbledon Championships, BelTA has learned.
In the third round, the world number one Aryna Sabalenka defeated Jelena Ostapenko of Latvia (No.31) 6-4, 6-4. A place in the quarterfinals will be at stake when Aryna Sabalenka takes on Japan’s Naomi Osaka (No. 14). Aryna Sabalenka began her campaign with a convincing 6-2, 6-3 victory over Serbia’s Teodora Kostovic (No.184), before defeating McCartney Kessler of the USA (world No.57), 6-1, 7-6 (11-9) in the second round.
The women's singles final of the 139th edition of Wimbledon will be played on 11 July, and the men’s championship match is scheduled for 12 July. The 2026 Wimbledon Championships will feature a record total prize fund of £62.4 million. The men’s and women’s singles champions will each receive £3.6 million. Poland’s Iga Swiatek and Italy’s Jannik Sinner won the singles titles in 2025.
