MINSK, 4 November (BelTA) – More than 35,000 foreign students are currently pursuing higher education in Belarus, Belarus’ Education Minister Andrei Ivanets said in an interview with the the First News TV Channel, BelTA has learned.

“Today we have over 35,000 foreign students enrolled. In the past two years alone, this number has grown by 5,000, which is a significant and positive development,” he noted.

The minister pointed out that over 20% of foreign students are enrolled in master’s degree programs, which the ministry considers to be in particularly high demand. “We must preserve this opportunity in order to allow young people from other countries to receive a Belarusian education,” Andrei Ivanets stressed.

According to him, the number of students from Africa is also increasing every year. “The number of young people coming from African countries grows annually. This is not a coincidence, but a clear and consistent trend,” the minister added.
