Orsha Half Marathon to gather athletes from Russia, Lithuania, Armenia

VITEBSK, 22 September (BelTA) - The national athletics competition Orsha Half Marathon will bring together athletes and running enthusiasts from Belarus, Russia, Lithuania and Armenia, BelTA learned from the Orsha sports and tourism department.

The races will take place on 24 September. The participants will start in Lenin Street. Everyone who has applied on the website of the Belarusian Athletics Federation will be able to compete in the 7km and 21km races. The half marathon is organized by the Belarusian Athletics Federation, the Sports and Tourism Ministry and Orsha District Executive Committee.

Athletes aged 10 and up will be able to join the 7km run, and athletes aged 15 and up will be allowed to run 21km. Very young participants together with their loved ones will be welcomed at the family run for the prizes of the local newspaper, while kids aged 8-13 will be invited to run a relay race. According to the organizers, the relay race will diversify the competitions and make them more interesting and spectacular. The school, taking the first place in the team event, will get a challenge cup of the Orsha District Executive Committee chairperson.

According to the sports and tourism department, more than 200 people have already applied for the participation in the main races. These are residents of Belarusian cities, Russia’s Moscow and St. Petersburg, Lithuania’s Vilnius and Armenia’s Maralik. The registration for Orsha Half Marathon will end on 23 September.
