MINSK, 18 February (BelTA) – Belarusian alpine skier Maria Shkanova did not make the top 30 in the Women’s Slalom event at the 25th Winter Olympic Games in Italy, BelTA has learned.

A total of 95 athletes started the race in Cortina d'Ampezzo. Shkanova completed the course in 51.86 seconds, finishing 43rd and missing the top 30 by nearly two seconds. She improved in the second run with 56.08 seconds, climbing to a final 37th place. The Belarusian finished 8.84 seconds behind Olympic champion Mikaela Shiffrin of the USA. Camille Rast of Switzerland took silver, while Sweden's Anna Swenn-Larsson claimed bronze.

The 2026 Olympics mark the fifth Games appearance for the 36-year-old Maria Shkanova. Her best result in Olympic slalom was a 20th-place finish in Beijing 2022. In Vancouver 2010, Sochi 2014, and Pyeongchang 2018, Maria competed in three events (super-G, slalom, and giant slalom), finishing in the top 30 twice.
