VITEBSK, 14 July (BelTA) – The exhibition “Beyond the visible: Worlds of Nikas Safronov” has opened at the Vitebsk Concert Hall, BelTA has learned.
The first section of the exhibition by the People’s Artist of Russia is dedicated to the Great Patriotic War. His paintings feature famous monuments, memorials, and landmark locations tied to the events of that era. The memory of these events has become woven into the cultural code of several generations. Today, the legacy of the victorious generation is passed down to the youth through family stories, literature, painting, and cinema.
Landscapes take center stage in the second part of the exhibition. The artist offers his unique perspective on everyday life, finding a distinct poetry in the mundane. For instance, the canvas Winter in the Village evokes a pleasant chill and the faint scent of woodsmoke, while looking at a cart moving between log cabins almost makes you hear the snow crunching beneath its runners. Meanwhile, A Sunny Day Somewhere in Italy immerses the viewer in the warm atmosphere of the Mediterranean coast.

Another world crafted by the master is his inner realm – a sanctuary where ideas, images, and inspiring muses reside. This part of the exhibition captures that unique state of being between dreaming and waking, where unusual, vibrant, yet beautifully blurred visions come to life.
Nikas Safronov invites viewers to step into the endless space and conquer extraterrestrial realms. The artist captures humanity’s enduring drive to unlock the mysteries of the universe and explore new horizons. Remarkably, the exhibition features artworks that have actually been aboard the International Space Station (ISS).
The exhibition is free to attend and can be found on the third floor of the Vitebsk Concert Hall.
