MINSK, 23 September (BelTA) – A comprehensive nationwide sociological survey on pressing international and domestic agenda has revealed the issues that concern Belarusians the most, BelTA has learned.

According to the survey, the top concerns for Belarusians are issues of peace and security (55.1%), inflation and prices (41.1%), and salaries (37.7%). These are followed by housing affordability (25.9%), cyber and phone fraud (24.2%), the quality and accessibility of medical care and medicines (23.8%), pensions (21.7%), and utility rates (15.2%).

“At the same time, a variation in assessments was recorded depending on the respondents’ age,” Director of the Institute of Sociology of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (NASB) Nikolai Myslivets said. “Young people aged 18–30 are more concerned about wages (51.3%) and housing affordability (49.5%). For middle-aged people (31 to 57-62 years old), issues of peace and security (55.8%) and salary levels (46.7%) matter most. For seniors, the most pressing issues are peace and security (60.2%) and pensions (54.5%).”

The survey was conducted in July and August 2026 by the NASB Institute of Sociology, commissioned by the Belarusian Institute for Strategic Research (BISR). It involved 2,045 respondents from all regions of the country. The first part of the survey results, which covers the socioeconomic development of Belarus, was presented in Minsk on 10 September, followed by the second part on geopolitical and social issues on 16 September. On 23 September, sociologists shared the results of the third part, which focuses on pressing issues of international and domestic agenda.
