Minsk’s Loshitsa Park starts reconstruction of old mill, chapel

MINSK, 4 September (BelTA) – Reconstruction work on the mill and chapel has begun at the Loshitsa park complex in Minsk, BelTA learned from the Minskstroy state construction association.

The reconstruction will be carried out by SU-19 of Trust No. 1, the same construction directorate that previously restored the historic 18th- and 19th-century buildings at 17 Chizhevskikh Street and 5 and 6 Chizhevskikh Lane.

“The builders have commenced work on both sites simultaneously. Reinforcement of the mill’s foundations has begun, with rebar and concrete being applied from both the outside and inside. Waterproofing and backfilling are next in line. The following stage will involve installing bored piles along the building’s inner perimeter,” the organization said.

The foundations of the surviving fragment of the chapel have been exposed, and the foundations of the lost part of the building have been uncovered.

“They are made of rubble and will be reinforced from both the outside and inside. Parallel work is underway to backfill the slope and shape the inclines. Archaeologists are also working on the sites,” the Minskstroy state construction association noted.

The client for the reconstruction project is the city’s historical heritage management company Minskaya Spadchyna (Minsk Heritage), and the designer is the city’s chief architectural and design institute Minskproekt.
