Minsk to host match meeting of Belarus-Russia Union State athletics teams on 18-19 July

MINSK, 17 July (BelTA) – The Match Meeting in athletics among youth teams of the Belarus-Russia Union State will take place at the National Olympic Stadium Dinamo in Minsk on 18-19 July, BelTA has learned.

The traditional competition will feature the best young athletes from Belarus and Russia, who will determine the medalists in two age categories: boys and girls under 18, and juniors under 20. In the younger group, 40 sets of medals will be contested; in the older group – 28. In each event of the U18 program, three athletes from each team will compete, and in the U20 group – two. Athletes competing individually are also allowed to participate.

Among the youth contenders for victory are Belarusian athletes Denis Urakov, Kom Kristal Shannon (long jump), Artem Pilatov, Darya Vasilchik (discus throw), and Ivan Vlasovets (javelin). In the junior category, Belarusian athletes stand out on the world stage with their personal bests: Anatoly Khomich (shot put), Pavel Artemyev (long jump), and Maksim Gapov (high jump).

The competitions on 18 July will begin at Dinamo Stadium at nine in the morning and continue until seven in the evening. On 19 July, the action on the track and field sectors will run from 9:00 to 15:00. Live broadcasts of the tournament will be available on the Belarus 5 TV channel.

Last year, the match meeting in athletics among youth teams of the Union State was held in Brest, where our young athletes won 72 medals: 21 gold, 20 silver, and 31 bronze.
