Minsk to host IFMA Muay Thai European Championships on 4-11 November

MINSK, 8 August (BelTA) – The IFMA Muay Thai European Championships 2019 will take place in the Minsk Palace of Sports on 4-11 November. The corresponding agreement was signed by Chairman of the Belarusian Kickboxing and Muay Thai Federation, Internal Affairs Minister Yuri Karayev and Vice President of the European Muay Thai Federation Anatoly Simonchik on 7 August, BelTA has learned.

Taking part in the competitions will be athletes from more than 35 countries.

Reviewing the results of the IFMA World Muay Thai Championships in Bangkok, Thailand on 19-29 July, Yuri Karayev praised the performance of the Belarusian national team as successful. Belarus placed sixth with seven medals in the overall team standings. Alena Leshkevich secured the women’s 45kg gold. Nikita Shostak (81kg) and Evgeny Volchek (86kg) clinched silver. Bronze went to Nikita Mironchik (51kg), Daniil Ermolenko (60kg), Dmitry Varets (67kg) and Darya Belkova (60kg).

Yuri Karayev expressed hope that Belarusian athletes will make their fans happy with new victories at the home tournament.
