Minsk to host Festival of National Cultures on 11 September

MINSK, 27 August (BelTA) - The National Festival of Cultures will be held in the Upper Town in Minsk on 11 September, director of the Center of National Cultures Olga Antonenko said during the roundtable to discuss the regional festivals and brand cultural events and ways to preserve and popularize national traditions, history, identity in BelTA’s press center on 27 August.

"The festival, which will be held in the Upper Town from 12.00 to 17.00, will feature representatives of 25 ethnicities. This is an opportunity to see a huge palette of different countries, to try different cuisines, listen to music or participate in dance master classes, and admire the diversity of ethnicities that live in Belarus," she said.

According to Olga Antonenko, one of the lines of work of the center is Belarusians abroad. "Last year, we drew up a list of regional cultural brands of Belarus. It includes 209 holidays, festivals and contests. The information about them is available on nationalcultures.by," she added.

"Our center did a lot of work last year and published the book ‘Festivals from A to Z’. It is based on the materials sent from all regions and the city of Minsk. It features the largest and most significant events, not only festivals of folk art, but also brass bands, theater studios. Thanks to this book, you can plunge into the atmosphere of holidays, look at photos and find out who stood at their origins, and choose something for yourself. The book is available on on the website of the Center of National Cultures.
