Minsk launches march featuring 500-meter state flag

Minsk launches march featuring 500-meter state flag

MINSK, 10 May (BelTA) – A march carrying the largest flag of Belarus has kicked off from Minsk Hero City Stele, BelTA has learned.

Belarus is marking the Day of the State Flag, State Emblem and State Anthem of the Republic of Belarus. A new feature this year is that the march with a 500-meter-long and 9-meter-wide flag is organized from Minsk Hero City Stele to the State Flag Square, passing through a corridor formed by civic activists carrying flags.

The match is organized by the Headquarters of Patriotic Forces. The flag is being carried along Pobediteley Avenue by around 800 people, including well-known figures from culture, sports and the media. Leading the column is a formation of cadet drummers, another new element this year.

In addition, for the first time, similar events are being held in all regional centers. Video from the regions is synchronized with the central event in Minsk.

The largest state flag (500-meter-long and 9-meter-wide) was carried along Pobediteley Avenue in Minsk for the first time in 2025.

Thirty years ago, on 14 May 1995, the state symbols of the Republic of Belarus were established by the will of the Belarusian people. They embody the memory of generations, reflect national identity and the complex historical path of the nation, and unite the past, present and future of the Belarusian state.
