Lukashenko watches HC Dinamo Minsk vs HC Dynamo Moscow game in Minsk Arena
MINSK, 24 March (BelTA) – Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko watched the first playoff game of the 2025-2026 season of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL). The head of state observed a match between HC Dinamo Minsk and HC Dynamo Moscow in Minsk Arena, BelTA has learned.
The game was dedicated to the 35th anniversary of the National Olympic Committee. NOC President Viktor Lukashenko dropped the puck to start the game.
In the first period the Minsk team had a clear advantage in shots at goal, but the teams ended the 20-minute period with a 0–0 tie. The “bisons” were able to convert their dominance into goals after the intermission, with Yegor Borikov scoring the capital club’s first goal of the playoffs. The hosts began the final period with a 5-on-3 power play, and Darren Dietz capitalized on the opportunity.
Four minutes later the Minsk team once again demonstrated the importance of playing effectively during power plays. This time the club captain Andrei Stas received congratulations from his teammates. Shortly before the final buzzer the Moscow team pulled one back, but there was no time left to salvage the game. The final score was 3-1, giving the “bisons” a lead in a series up to four victories.
The second game will take place in the Belarusian capital city on 26 March.
