International Children’s Song Contest Vitebsk 2017 kicks off 11 July

VITEBSK, 11 July (BelTA) – The 15th International Children’s Song Contest Vitebsk 2017 kicks off at the Slavianski Bazaar festival of arts on 11 July with the young artists performing national hits, BelTA learned.

The highlight of the day at the Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk will be the first on-stage appearance of the participants of the 15th International Children Song Contest Vitebsk 2017. According to the rules of the festival, 21 young artists will perform a pop song by a composer from their country in the native language. By the way, the geography of the contest has long transcended the Slavic countries. This year it will feature representatives from the United States and Cuba.

The Theatrical Meetings program also starts on 11 July. The first production will be shown by the theatrical agency ART-Partner 21st Century (Russia). The Solo for the Star with Orchestra Judy is the story about Hollywood icon Judy Garland and about the incredible love of the stage, music, and people. The production stars famous Russian actress Nonna Grishaeva.

The day will be marked by a series of exhibition projects. The art museum will host an exhibition of original sashes of the 18th-19th centuries from a private collection and the interactive exhibition “The Scent of Life. Miracles of Perfumery”. The Vitebsk Concert Hall will be the venue for The Format project by the Belarusian Union of Artists. The Format is an attempt to get a feel of the transformations which have occurred in the artistic life for the 100-year period of existence of the Vitebsk art school.

The 26th installment of the International Festival of Arts Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk will be held from 13 to 17 July (additional activities are planned for 10-12 July and 18-19 July).
