MINSK, 2 September (BelTA) - The International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) has allowed Belarusian and Russian athletes to compete in FIS-sanctioned events in a neutral capacity, BelTA learned from the FIS press service.
At a meeting in Thun, Switzerland, the FIS Council ruled that athletes and support personnel from Belarus and Russia may be allowed to compete in FIS events provided they sign a declaration of neutrality. Compliance with the neutrality principles will be continuously monitored. Athletes from both countries will only be able to compete in individual events and without the use of national symbols.
