“First, we will turn to BelTA.” TASS director general on how agency checks fake news about Belarus

MOSCOW, 23 September (BelTA) - TASS will turn to BelTA first to verify information about Belarus, Director General of TASS Andrey Kondrashov said in an interview with the Soyuzny TV channel, BelTA has learned.

“If we come across some information concerning Belarus but clearly feel that it is fake, the first thing we will do is turn to BelTA. We do not even need artificial intelligence tools that can identify from a distance whether a news story looks like fake news. We definitely verify everything in the news about Belarus that does not come from Belarus itself, because we have enough ill-wishers, all of us,” Andrey Kondrashov told the Soyuzny TV channel at the international forum Dialogue about Fakes 4.0.

“Everything that is written about Belarus may be intended to serve the interests of some political group that wants to exert political influence on the population of Belarus,” he added.
