Danila Uss wins grand prix at contest of young performers of Belarusian pop songs in Molodechno

Danila Uss wins grand prix at contest of young performers of Belarusian pop songs in Molodechno

MOLODECHNO, 13 June (BelTA) – Danila Uss, a representative of Minsk Oblast, won the Grand Prix of the National Contest of Young Performers of Belarusian Pop Songs, which took place as part of the anniversary 25th National Festival of Belarusian Song and Poetry Maladzechna [Molodechno in Belarusian] 2026. The winners were determined following the third round of the regional stage of the contest, which took place at the Palace of Culture in the city of Molodechno on 13 June, BelTA has learned.

First place went to another representative of Minsk Oblast, Aleksei Buida. Second place was awarded to two performers: Igor Muravkin (Minsk Oblast) and Ilya Kubrakov (Mogilev Oblast). Third place was also shared by two vocalists: Yulia Sumkina (Minsk) and Kristina Zhura (Gomel Oblast).

“We were getting ready, we have been working toward this victory for over two years. Over two years of hard work. Every step was thought out, first and foremost, by my teacher Yelena Krivitskaya. Thanks to my parents, my teacher, and my college, everything came together,” Danila Uss shared his impressions immediately after the results were announced.

He emphasized that performance work is always a creative tandem with the teacher.

“I was working toward this victory, but I wasn’t 100% sure. But that’s exactly how it turned out. I am satisfied with my performance. Although there is no limit to perfection: we will keep developing,” the performer added.

It is not the first time Danila Uss takes part in the National Contest of Young Performers of Belarusian Pop Songs. Last year he participated in the qualifying round but did not get past it. In 2026 his artistry was appreciated, and the young man passed the qualifying round.

“My teacher and I chose a gorgeous program: the song ‘Ptushki’ (a requiem in memory of V. Mulyavin) with music by Dmitry Dolgalev, lyrics by Polikanina, and the Belarusian translation by Lyudmila Kebich. The second song was ‘Moi lyos – kakhanne dziunaye’ by my piano teacher, composer Anna Kozlova to the lyrics of the songwriter Konstantin Tsybulsky,” the winner said.

When asked what music means to him, Danila Uss emphasized that “music is not even a part of life, it is life”. He added that a person born to be a musician will be a musician all their life. For this reason he chose music as a career. At present the young man is a third-year student at Minsk State College of Arts in the Variety Art (Singing) Department.
