Chinese vloggers with millions of subscribers to visit Belarus

MINSK, 4 September (BelTA) – The National Tourism Agency is running a familiarization tour across Belarus for vloggers from China. The agency’s Director Kirill Masharsky has revealed the goals of the event and the travel program to BelTA in detail.

The familiarization tour for Chinese vloggers kicks off on 7 September. The National Tourism Agency organized the event with support from the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in the People’s Republic of China and the country’s main bank – OAO ASB Belarusbank.

The tour participants are bloggers with multi-million audiences, and Belarus expects to effectively present its tourism potential to future travelers from China through them. Kirill Masharsky pointed out: “Digital marketing is not just one of the promotion methods, but the fundamental basis for the existence of virtually any business. Its importance stems from a tectonic shift in human behavior. Coverage by bloggers in tourism is one of the most powerful catalysts for the industry’s development. They not only provide information about locations, but also package geography into emotions and personal stories, which creates a multifaceted economic and social effect. A blogger does not list dry facts (mountain height, water temperature), but shows their feelings.”

A location ceases to be a point on a map, turning into an object of desire, and the visual storytelling takes shape that sells an impression before a purchase. As a result, it produces an explosive growth of brand awareness in addition to drastic expansion of the reach and access to new audiences, the expert added.

The National Tourism Agency has prepared a rich one-week program for the Chinese bloggers, which could form the basis of a new tourism product in the future. Travelers are particularly attracted by the castle heritage of Belarus and the guests will see all the most impressive sites: Mir Castle and Nesvizh Castle, the Old Castle and New Castle in Grodno, the Wollowicz estate in Svyatsk, and the Bulhak Palace in Zhilichi. The climax of the castle route will be a night in Mir Castle – a rare opportunity to feel the spirit of the Middle Ages.

However, Belarus is interesting not only for its architecture. A real immersion in nature awaits the bloggers in the Pripyatsky National Park: a ferry crossing over the Pripyat River, a safari park with animals in their natural habitat, and an outdoor lunch. In the Ozery Wildlife Sanctuary, they will enjoy the country’s only narrow-gauge railway running through the picturesque landscapes of the protected natural area. The program will conclude with a cruise along the Augustow Canal – a 19th-century engineering masterpiece that remains one of Europe’s largest waterways.

Chinese tourists highly appreciate authenticity and rural color, which is why visits to the country’s best farm tourism complexes are part of the program. The bloggers will visit the farm tourism complex Garadzensky Estate Karobchytsy outside Grodno where they can appreciate Belarusian hospitality, national cuisine, and lifestyle.

The program includes deep immersions in the atmosphere of Belarusian cities. In Grodno the guests will walk through the historic center, see the unique Kalozha Church and the Farny Cathedral. In Minsk they will appreciate the contrast of the capital: from the historic Trinity Suburb and Svobody Square to the futuristic building of the National Library of Belarus and modern Zybitskaya Street. A visit to a BelAZ site near the Minsk International Exhibition Center and shopping in the city’s main shopping centers are also planned. Before departure the bloggers will visit the famous Stalin Line Historical and Cultural Complex where they will get acquainted with a powerful defense line and military equipment.

The blogger tour for opinion leaders from China is the first major project of the National Tourism Agency to promote the tourism potential of Belarus abroad and attract foreign travelers. Similar tours are planned for representatives of other friendly countries in the near future, Kirill Masharsky shared plans.

“China is an all-weather strategic partner of Belarus. For our country comprehensive cooperation with the Middle Kingdom is not just a political choice, but a time-tested course toward long-term partnership. Tourism is one of the promising areas capable of giving an additional impetus to bilateral relations: increasing mutual tourist flows will allow us to get to know each other better. Over five years the number of Chinese tourists in Belarus has increased by 2.6 times, and the dynamics remain positive largely thanks to the steady development of bilateral relations,” the director of the National Tourism Agency summarized.
