Caviar under microscope: Where to take sturgeon farm tour in Belarus

MINSK, 15 September (BelTA) – Yulia Krasko, head of the strategic planning department at the National Tourism Agency, revealed where to take a sturgeon farm tour in Belarus in a new episode of BelTA’s project The Nation Speaks.
Highlighting exciting new industrial tourism routes, Yulia Krasko pointed to regional sites that recently went viral on social media during blogger press tours: “When visiting Gomel Oblast, we stopped by the Gomelglass production facility, which sparked incredible enthusiasm among the bloggers. We also visited Granit, which received overwhelmingly positive reviews. Seeing those quarries and the massive BelAZ trucks, which look like mere specks of dust against that backdrop, leaves a powerful, emotional impression. We can see that the content they created for social media is really hitting the spot with the audience,” Yulia Krasko said.
Two new production facilities in Fanipol have become a real breakthrough for industrial tourism. “One is a black caviar factory that is already hosting tours. Visitors can see how sturgeons are raised, how the females undergo ultrasound scans, and even examine the caviar under a microscope. The second site in Fanipol features a full grain-to-barrel whiskey production cycle. This creates a wonderful blend of both gastronomic and industrial tourism,” the head of the strategic planning department explained.
The speaker also noted growing interest from residents of China and the Middle East. “We mostly attribute this to the availability of direct flights. Naturally, consumers always vote with their feet and their wallets. Belarus offers not only unique locations to explore but also an affordable vacation destination for many. We are seeing tourist traffic growth on routes that have direct flights. Of course, the visa-free regime is another factor. A similar option is being considered for India, or at least simplifying the process to e-visas. These are the key factors driving the influx,” she concluded.
