BREST, 11 August (BelTA) - Five districts of Brest Oblast will represent the region at the international festival of ethnocultural traditions Call of Polesie. Each district will present its own original concept highlighting the unique character and the richness of its traditions, Deputy Chairman of the Brest Oblast Executive Committee Viktor Rafalovich told BelTA.

The 2026 edition of the festival is dedicated to the Year of the Belarusian Woman. The theme will form the basis of the programs. “From Brest Oblast, the festival will feature the town of Pinsk, Stolin District, Luninets District, Ivanovo District, and Pinsk District. Each of them has its own concept,” Viktor Rafalovich said.

The program from Pinsk will immerse visitors in the era of Queen Bona Sforza, whose economic and cultural reforms transformed Polesie. The atmosphere will be created by melodies performed by a string orchestra and folk dance groups. The people of Pinsk promise the atmosphere of a royal hunt and a knightly tournament.

At the Ivanovo District pavilion, visitors will be able to discover the fascinating world of the Polesie Madonnas. Belarusian artists used this image in their paintings to celebrate the beauty, strength and spirituality of Polesie women.

Stolin District will bring a ‘treasure chest’ of Polesie patterns to the festival. The art of embroidery will demonstrate the multifaceted talents of women from the district. Women’s hands create patterns that preserve centuries-old traditions, which talented craftswomen will showcase at the festival.

Organizers from Luninets District will use an immersive performance to show how the heritage of ancestors lives on in Polesie. The concept will be revealed through traditional treats and a ritual performance featuring matchmaking games.

At the Pinsk District pavilion, visitors will be inspired by the work of poetess Yevgeniya Yanishchits. Her heartfelt poems celebrate the beauty and distinctive character of Polesie. They are filled with love for her native land, its people and life itself.

In addition, performing groups will showcase the diversity of vocal, choreographic and instrumental arts of the Polesie region of Brest Oblast. Eleven artisans from Brest Oblast will also take part in Call of Polesie, preserving traditions of weaving, embroidery, wickerwork, pottery, straw weaving, felting, ritual baking, and beekeeping.

The Call of Polesie festival will be held in the agro-town of Lyaskovichi, Gomel Oblast on 15 August.
