BREST, 21 January (BelTA) – In 2021 the Belovezhskaya Pushcha National Park welcomed 40% more tourists than a year before, BelTA learned from the national park.

The pandemic continues to have its toll on the tourism industry. Yet, in 2021 the tourist numbers grew by 37%, revenues increased by almost a quarter. The national park welcomed about 474,000 people, of them 92,500 visited the estate of the Belarusian Father Frost.

The largest influx of tourists was recorded during various festivities and events. The most popular of them included the meeting of the Snow Maiden in December, New Year and Christmas, Maslenitsa, Kupala Night, the Good Neighbors festival, the holiday of jam and food festivals, the opening of the cycling season in April and its closing in November.

By the way, the Belovezhskaya Pushcha National Park is becoming an increasingly popular destination for cycling. The number of cyclists increased by 3.4% in 2020, and by 4.2% in 2021. Nearly 35,000 people cycled along the national park's trails last year. “This is the only type of visitors whose number did not shrink. Cyclists generated a stable increase in revenues for Belovezhskaya Pushcha. During the pandemic, the drop in foreign arrivals was offset by the increase in domestic travelers and diversification of prices for tourist services,” the national park informed.
