Belarusians speak out on mobile internet quality in latest nationwide survey

MINSK, 23 September (BelTA) – The results of a new comprehensive nationwide sociological survey on pressing issues of international and domestic agenda show that a majority of Belarusians rate the quality of mobile internet positively, BelTA has learned.

A majority of respondents (59.4%) view the quality of mobile internet positively overall. Among them, 18.7% noted that everything loads quickly and without issues, while another 40.7% indicated that rare glitches occur but it is comfortable to use overall. At the same time, every third person surveyed points to certain problems with connection speed and stability. Specifically, 24.9% of respondents stated that the speed drops periodically, causing frustration, and 8.4% characterized the connection as having constant drops and low speeds, making it impossible to use.

“Young people and rural residents are more likely to express dissatisfaction with the quality of mobile internet,” Director of the Institute of Sociology of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (NASB) Nikolai Myslivets said. “Specifically, a total of 43.4% of respondents aged 18 to 30 and 39% of rural dwellers pointed to ‘periodic speed drops’ and ‘constant drops’ in connection.”

The survey was conducted in July and August 2026 by the NASB Institute of Sociology, commissioned by the Belarusian Institute for Strategic Research (BISR). It involved 2,045 respondents from all regions of the country. The first part of the survey results, which covers the socioeconomic development of Belarus, was presented in Minsk on 10 September, followed by the second part on geopolitical and social issues on 16 September. On 23 September, sociologists shared the results of the third part, which focuses on pressing issues of international and domestic agenda.
