MINSK, 12 May (BelTA) – Belarusian tennis players have successfully kicked off their campaigns at tournaments in India and Slovakia, BelTA has learned.
At the ATP Challenger 50 in Bengaluru, India, featuring a $63,000 prize pool, Ilya Ivashka cruised past Chinese Taipei’s Kuan-Yi Lee, winning 6-2, 6-0 in just 58 minutes. The Belarusian will now face Japan’s Kokoro Isomura for a spot in the quarterfinals.
In the opening round of the ITF women’s tournament in Trnava, Belarus’ Aliona Falei cruised to a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Czechia’s Petra Sedlackova. In the Round of 16, the Belarusian will face Anastasiia Sobolieva of Ukraine.
The tournaments in Bengaluru and Trnava will conclude on 16 May.
