MINSK, 2 May (BelTA) – Belarusian athletes have won two silver medals in the group events at the 2026 European Cup in rhythmic gymnastics, BelTA has learned.
The competitions are taking place in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, with teams from 14 countries participating in the group events. In the routine with five balls, the Belarusian gymnasts placed second with 26.150 points, finishing just a quarter of a point behind the team from Israel. In the routine with three hoops and two pairs of clubs, the Belarusian team also claimed silver (26.700), with the Russian gymnasts taking gold by a margin of half a point.
The Belarusian team includes Palina Aliaksandrava, Sofya Barysevich, Valeryia Malkovich, Hanna Shakun, Kiriana Shevtsova and Taisa Yerchak. Earlier in Baku, medals were awarded in individual events, where Belarus’ Darya Viarenich won silver in clubs and bronze in hoop. On 3 May, senior gymnasts will compete for medals in the cross-battle, a new format similar to playoff rounds in team sports.
