Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka into round two at Wimbledon

MINSK, 30 June (BelTA) - Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka reached the second round of the Wimbledon tournament, BelTA correspondent reports.

Top seed Aryna Sabalenka defeated Canadian qualifier Carson Branstine on to get her quest for a first Wimbledon title up and running with a 6-1 7-5 win in round one. She will face either last year's surprise quarter-finalist Lulu Sun of New Zealand or Czech Marie Bouzkova in round two.

Another Belarusian Aliaksandra Sasnovich (107) will face off France’s Varvara Gracheva (92). Sasnovich made her way into the main draw, winning three victories in qualifying.

Victoria Azarenka (87) will meet with Russian Anastasia Zakharova (95) In the Wimbledon Round of 128 on Tuesday.
