MINSK, 20 June (BelTA) – Belarusian athlete Sofya Kryvetskaya claimed bronze at the Asia Triathlon Cup Astana held in the capital of Kazakhstan, the press service of the Ministry of Sports told BelTA.
The women’s sprint event featured 14 competitors from eight countries, with the distance comprising a 750-meter swim, a 20-kilometer cycling leg, and a 5-kilometer run. Sofya Kryvetskaya finished third with a time of 1 hour, 3 minutes and 30 seconds. The victory went to Alina Khakimova of Uzbekistan, while silver was claimed by Manami Iijima of Guam, who finished 19 seconds ahead of Sofya Kryvetskaya.
In the men’s event, Belarusian Mikita Katsianeu placed 15th among 36 athletes, with the podium occupied by representatives of Kazakhstan, Luxembourg and the Czech Republic. At the previous Asia Triathlon Cup stage in China at the end of May, Belarusian Hanna Maksimava took gold.
