Belarus, Russia plan to organize combined tours for Chinese tourists

MINSK, 16 January (BelTA) - Belarus and Russia are planning to organize combined tours for Chinese tourists, BelTA has learned from the press service of the Belarusian Union of Tourism Industry.

Representatives of the travel industry believe that combining two countries in one trip will significantly increase the appeal of Belarus as a destination for Chinese tourists.

"This is how they work with Chinese travelers in Western Europe, combining several cities and places," said Belarusian Sport and Tourism Minister Sergei Kovalchuk. “We, too, have set ourselves the goal of creating a single system, digitizing and monetizing our rich potential. The mutual recognition of visas will attract a huge flow of Chinese tourists to Minsk and other Belarusian cities".

Last year, the number of Chinese travelers to Belarus doubled to over 10,500 from 2022. Belarus ranked second, after Russia and Türkiye, in terms of exporting travel services to China in January-September 2023. Experts predict even higher figures as combined tours become more popular.

Chinese travelers in Belarus prefer business, educational, agro, eco, historical, and cultural tourism. Popular tourist destinations include the towns of Mir, Nesvizh, and Kossovo with their castles and also national parks, wildlife sanctuaries, and nature reserves such as Belovezhskaya Pushcha and Naliboki Forest. Also popular are the sites related to the history of the USSR, such as the Brest Fortress, the Stalin Line, and House Museum of First Congress of the Russian Social Democratic Labor Party.
