MINSK, 20 January (BelTA) – The head of Bashkortostan Radiy Khabirov supported the idea of creating a population of Belarusian bison in Bashkortostan, BelTA learned from the Belarus President Property Management Directorate.

Radiy Khabirov is currently on a working visit to Belarus.

In his new post on social networks, he posted a photo with a souvenir wooden figurine of a bison. "This photo has a certain meaning," the head of the region wrote. "Today, among the numerous discussions of trade and economic cooperation with Belarus, we have agreed, in my opinion, on a very interesting Belarusian-Bashkir project – to breed bison in Bashkortostan." Radiy Khabirov said that Belarusian colleagues are ready to give several individual species to Bashkortostan.

The head of Bashkortostan met with the head of the Belarus President Property Management Directorate Yuri Nazarov. The parties discussed international cooperation and joint projects in various sectors of the economy.

An original proposal to breed a bison population was made by Yuri Nazarov. Radiy Khabirov eagerly supported this idea. "Our area of responsibility is to create conditions for them to live and adapt here. This is the job of our scientists. I am sure that this will be a very interesting project," the head of Bashkortostan summed up.
