MINSK, 11 January (BelTA) - The construction of the new building for the National History Museum is proceeding on schedule, Maksim Kotov, Director of the Directorate for the Construction of the National History Museum, told the STV channel, BelTA has learned.
Maksim Kotov noted that the most crucial task was to enclose the building’s outer shell before the onset of frost, which the builders successfully accomplished. “Five floors are up. Finishing work is still underway, tiles are being laid, but the main framework is essentially complete,” said the director.
He pointed out that the work was on schedule. “The art studio’s work on the exhibits has already kicked off. The actual work of artists on-site to build out the exhibition halls, I think, will start closer to spring,” stressed Maksim Kotov. At the same time, the director noted that the museum’s construction was already more than halfway done, but the exhibit preparation had barely begun.
The National History Museum is planned to be located in the Tsentralny District of Minsk on a plot between Pobeditelei Avenue - Orlovskaya Street and the Svisloch River. The People’s Unity Park will also be created here, which will become part of the city’s water-green corridor. The architectural design of the National History Museum building mirrors the outline of the map of Belarus. The museum’s exhibitions will contain artifacts and information about the history of the Belarusian lands, from ancient times to the modern era.
